Coaching That Builds Truth, Not Performances.
Whether you're preparing for an audition, filming tomorrow, or looking to grow as an artist, my coaching is designed to help you discover truthful, repeatable performances that feel effortless—not performed.
My Teaching Philosophy
Acting isn’t about acting.
Every role already contains everything an actor needs. Hidden inside the script are facts, relationships, circumstances, memories, objectives, and moments that naturally build upon one another. My job as a coach is to help actors uncover those layers until the performance no longer feels performed—it simply feels true.
This philosophy became the foundation of The Onion Method™, the process I developed after more than twenty years as an actor, casting director, educator, and coach. Rather than asking actors to create emotions or imitate behaviors, we begin with facts. One fact leads to another. Like falling dominos, each truthful discovery naturally creates the next until an authentic performance emerges.
When the choices are built on evidence instead of invention, actors stop wondering what they should do and begin responding the way people do in real life.
One of the analogies I use often is building a house.
Before construction begins, an architect creates a blueprint. Every room is thoughtfully designed, every wall has a purpose, and the structure is solid. But once someone moves into that house, they don't walk the exact same path every day. Sometimes they head to the kitchen first. Sometimes they pause at a window. Sometimes they forget why they walked into a room in the first place.
That's how I believe actors should prepare.
Together, we build the blueprint. We understand the character's world so completely that the actor can move through it freely. Between "Action" and "Cut," they aren't recreating predetermined moments—they're simply living inside a well-built structure. The performance stays fresh because, just like life, the exact path can change while the truth remains the same.
Perhaps the most important thing I teach has nothing to do with technique at all.
I believe the greatest asset an actor has is themselves.
I never ask actors to become someone else. Instead, I help them discover the version of the character that only they can bring to life. Their experiences, instincts, imagination, humor, fears, and humanity are not obstacles to overcome—they're the very things that make their work unforgettable.
I also believe growth only happens when actors feel safe.
Whether we're working privately, preparing an audition, consulting on a career, or exploring a scene in a workshop, my goal is to create an environment where actors feel supported enough to take risks, curious enough to explore, and confident enough to trust themselves. The work should be challenging, but it should also be joyful. When actors feel safe, they stop protecting themselves and start creating.
My purpose isn't to teach actors how to perform.
It's to help them build performances so truthful they no longer look like performances at all.
My Process
Discover
We uncover the facts already hidden inside the script.
Every relationship, circumstance, objective, memory and piece of evidence becomes the foundation for truthful choices.
Build
One truthful discovery naturally creates the next.
Like falling dominoes, every choice is connected until the entire scene comes alive.
Live
Preparation creates the blueprint.
Once "Action" is called, the actor simply lives inside the world they've built—free to explore, listen, and respond naturally.
